NarrativeOn September 15, 2008 the La Habra City Council voted 5 - 0 to award the City of La Habra's 911 Emergency Ambulance Operator's contract to CARE Ambulance Service. CARE will take over service on October 4, 2008. CARE Ambulance is proud to have been selected and looks forward to providing the citizens of La Habra with high quality ambulance service. La Habra becomes the 10th city in Orange County to contract with CARE Ambulance for 911 Emergency Ambulance Services joining Anaheim, Buena Park, Costa Mesa, Fountain Valley, Fullerton, Garden Grove, La Palma, Stanton, and Midway City. Due to issues with the current povider, the city waived the formal bidding process per La Habra Municipal Code Section 4.20.050 (A); and authorized the City Manager to execute the agreement with CARE Ambulance Service to provide services on an interim basis. We extend our thanks to the CIty Council and staff for the trust they have placed in us, and look forward to serving the City of La Habra with pride and distinction.. October 4, 2008 - CARE Ambulance started operations with the City of La Habra. CARE Ambulance employees are staffing two (2) 24 hour ambulances stationed in the city. In additon to being housed with the LA County Fire resources that are also serving La Habra, the units are dispatched by LA County Fire as well.
