NarrativeThe American Ambulance Association (AAA) held it's 17th Annual Stars of Life event at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington D.C., May 7-10, 2007. The AAA's Star of Life celebration is a national program that honors dedicated ambulance service professionals from around the country. The recipients of the "Star of Life" distinction are EMT's, medics, dispatchers, or other exceptional EMS personnel that have been nominated and are being recognized for service above and beyond the call of duty, years of service, on-duty heroism, or are employee of the year for their company. The event featured a banquet and award presentation ceremony to honor the "Stars", a guided tour of Washingtin D.C., and opportunities to meet with local congressional representatives. This year CARE nominated EMT Mike Moran and EMT Rudy Valenzuela. EMT Valenzuela is being honored for saving the life of a local neighbor boy of his that suffered traumatic injuries when he was struck by a car. Rudy rendered immediate life saving aid to the boy until paramedics arrived. His actions saved the life of the patient. The patient has since made a complete recovery. EMT Mike Moran is being honored for saving the life of an elderly patient. Being first on scene of a full-arrest, Mike quickly applied the AED and successfully revived the patient. This was one of Care Ambulance's first AED saves. They were accompanied on the trip to Washington by their wives. Public Relations Representative Jamie Philip and Marketing / Public Relations Manager Bob Barry escorted the group during the event. Images |
